During How Do We Write Our Way Out of This? — a Center for Story & Witness facilitated dialogue at the 41st Annual Printers Row Lit Fest — five writers who are also movement makers will come together to consider why a robust literary culture is critical to American democracy; challenge us to reclaim what it means to ethically tell stories in our AI-driven era; think in new ways about what it means to “narratively heal” the self and the world; and invite each of us to connect with the powerful, purposeful storyteller that exists within.
The dialogue will feature Atima Omara (The Instigators: How Black Women Have Been Essential to American Democracy (and What We Can Learn from Them)); Lisa Weinert (Narrative Healing: Awaken the Power of Story); Jamia Wilson (Make Good Trouble: Discover Movements That Sparked Change); Emily Yellin (Nonviolent: A Memoir of Resistance, Agitation and Love); and moderator and Center for Story & Witness Co-Founder Anne K. Ream (Lived Through This: Listening to the Stories of Sexual Violence Survivors).
