Bearing Witness, an online contemporary art exhibition and live auction

Bearing Witness, an online contemporary art exhibition and live auction benefiting Center for Story & Witness, is opening on 10/17.

Bearing Witness – which is being curated for us by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, founder of Art Works for Change and the former chief curator of The World Bank collection, with support from Tiphanie Spencer of Chicago’s Hana Pietri Gallery – is more than an exhibition. It’s an invitation to audiences to “see” the social injustices we too often choose to ignore.

In Bearing Witness, artists whose work is included in major museum collections (the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art, among others) will be shown alongside self-taught artists whose work exists outside of the mainstream and has often been developed in the face of – or in response to – the racial, social or economic injustices Center for Story & Witness seeks to address.

Proceeds will benefit Center for Story & Witness and its global testimonial writing program for survivors of gender-based violence and other human rights violations; artists to be announced shortly.
